ALL ABOUT ASTROLOGY

Astrology is the study of the relationship between the stars and planets and our lives on earth. Vedic Astrology involves the interpretation of the horoscope or birth chart and it is essentially based on the idea of cycles and patterns in life which correspond on the cycles of the planets. Through the analysis of these cycles in the past and present it is possible to interpret the possible future.

How Astrology Works
The astrologer's main tool is the birth chart. This is the map of heavens drawn up for the time, place and date of birth of the individual to whom it will refer. It shows the positions of all the planets in the signs of zodiac at the time of birth.

The skill of the astrologer is to interpret the birth chart, which is said to set the pattern for the growth of the person throughout their life. In other words, what will happen is described by the positions of the planets and the signs of the zodiac at birth. Astrology is based on a system of `correspondences' which means that each planet will correspond with different ways of behaving resulting in different personality patterns.

WESTERN ASTROLOGY
VEDIC ASTROLOGY

WESTERN ASTROLOGY
Western astrology, as the term suggests, is the astrological system that is popular mainly in the Western countries. This form of astrology has been in practice in Europe and Arabia for thousands of years. The concept is based upon a system where the location of the Sun, as seen from Earth, is studied. The practitioners study the path of the Sun through the heavens. The constellations (known as zodiac in astrology) lie along this path. However, this form of astrology is geocentric. In the geocentric system, the Earth is in the center and the Sun revolves around it. The western astrology, like any other modern astrological tradition, is composed of twelve zodiac signs. These twelve zodiacal signs are supposed to be representatives of twelve basic personality types. In other words, they can be said to reflect the characteristic modes of expression. The twelve signs or symbols are subdivided into four basic elements, namely Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Another basis of division of the signs comprises of the three basic qualities, Cardinal, Mutable And Fixed

Business Success Forecast
In the success driver for companies to grow their top line revenue is the accurate management of their sales forecast. A sales forecast is a leading business driver that when used correctly, increases corporate cash flow, accelerates operational success, and allows companies to manage their business model by proactive metrics, not reactively emotion.  When incorrect sales forecast data is collected or improperly managed . . . companies fail.So why do many companies manage their business revenue forecast as if it was an after-thought?Sales forecasts are incorrectly managed for multiple reasons, including lack of business understanding of their value contribution, lack of sales management controls and insufficient training and guidance for the sales team of why executive management needs accurate input. When your sales forecast is wrong, all of your other departments are aversely affected.

Career Success
The 3 Critical Success Factors If I have to choose 3 critical success factors in achieving success in your career, these would be my choices – Belief, Action and Discipline. Of course, I do not deny that there are other critical factors that can determine one’s career success. My opinion is that if there were such a thing as simplifying the factors that determines success, then these would be the three.

1. Belief
In order for you to achieve anything in your career, in fact your life - you have to first believe. You need to believe in yourself that you can achieve it. You need to have faith in your goals and your path to that success. Once your mind is convinced that you can do it, nothing is impossible. Belief is the ‘mind and heart’ part of your 3 critical success factors. It is the ‘think and feel’ part of it.

2. Action
Nothing moves until you do something. Believing alone is not going to achieve anything for you. It must be followed up with concrete action. Your plan for career success is nothing unless you act upon it whole-heartedly. When you act upon what you believe, there is focus. And there is energy. That energy propels you to greater heights. Action is the ‘hands and legs’ part of your 3 critical success factors. It is the ‘do’ part of it.

3. Discipline
Action in itself is not enough to increase the chances of success. But disciplined action would do that. One of the main reasons why people fail is that there is no discipline in their action. They give themselves excuses why they cannot consistently follow up on their plans. There is no self-control to their action. You would need some form of sacrifice if you were to achieve a certain degree of success in your career. For example, sacrificing some personal time to do initiatives. That sacrifice takes discipline. Discipline also ensures that you can be persistent. Especially when faced with challenges after challenges in their journey to success.

Planetary Motion Forecast
When will be the right time for me to buy a home for myself? Or to plan a foreign trip? Or get a salary hike? The planetary positions are predictable far into the future and they help bring about a major transformation in our lives. These planets exert a powerful energy over the sign they rule and thus influence our lives significantly.

VEDIC ASTROLOGY

Vedic Astrology is an ancient Indian science which explains planetary motions and positions with respect to time and their effect on humans and other entities on earth. Vedic astrology can be traced thousands of years back. Early Vedic astrology was only based on the movement of planets with respect to stars, but later on it started including zodiac signs as well. According to Vedic astrology there are 27 constellations made up of 12 zodiac signs, 9 planets and 12 houses with each house and planet representing some aspect of human life. Depending on when a person is born, the 12 signs are distributed among the 12 houses and 9 planets are placed in various houses. This visual representation of the snapshot of the signs and planets is called a horoscope chart. Vedic astrology is nothing but interpreting the meaning of these arrangements as it applies to humans and other entities.

TYPES OF VEDIC ASTROLOGY

Vedic astrology (Jyotisha) has three main branches:

  • Siddhanta (Astronomy): Astronomy & its application to astrology

  • Samhita (Mundane astrology): Covers Mundane astrology, predicting important events related to countries such as war, earth quakes, political events, astro - meteorology, financial positions, electional astrology; house & construction related matters (Vaastu Shaastra), animals, portents & omens etc.

  • Hora (Predictive astrology):

  • This branch has the following different styles / sub branches:-

    • Jaatak Shaastra / Hora Shaastra (Natal Astrology / horoscopy): Prediction based on individual horoscope.

    • Muhurt or Muhurtha (Electional astrology): Selection of beneficial time to initiate an activity to get maximum fruition from the life activities.

    • Swar Shaastra (Phonetical astrology): Predictions based on name & sounds.

    • Prashna (Horary astrology): Predictions based on time when a question is asked by querent / querist.

    • Ankjyotisha / Kabala (Numerology): A branch of astrology based on numbers.

    • Nadi Astrology: An ancient treatise having detailed predictions for individuals.

    • Tajik Shaastra / Varsha Phal (Annual Horoscopy): Astrology based on annual solar returns.

    • Tajik Shaastra / Varsha Phal (Annual Horoscopy): Astrology based on annual solar returns.

    • Jaimini Sutras: A non-conventional method of timing of events based on Famous Indian astrologer, Acharya Jaimini.

    • Nastjaatakam (Lost Horoscopy): Art of tracing / construction of lost horoscopes.

    • Streejaatak (female astrology): A special branch of astrology dealing with female nativities.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEEN VEDIC AND WESTERN ASTROLOGY

The most easily referred to difference between the two lies in the method of measurement of the Zodiac. Vedic astrology uses primarily the sidereal zodiac (in which stars are considered to be the fixed background against which the motion of the planets is measured), whereas most Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac (the motion of the planets is measured against the position of the Sun on the Spring equinox). This difference becomes only noticeable over time, after the course of several centuries, as a result of the precession of the equinoxes. Synchronically, the two systems are identical, with just a shift of the origin of the ecliptic longitude by about 22 degrees or days, resulting on the placement of planets in the previous sign in Western charts about 80% of the time.

SCEINTIFIC BASIS OF VEDIC ASTROLOGY

Ancient Hindu literature is full of mythology related to zodiac signs, constellations (also known as Nakshatras) and planets, which explain a lot of astrological rules. However the popular opinion is that the mythology was just a method that our ancient seers used to explain some very complex physical laws, which were beyond the comprehension of common people. Unfortunately even today's modern science has not been able to fully understand those physical laws behind this ancient method although it's getting there very fast. Our current understanding of the science of astrology lies in statistics and probability. Statistics is the branch of mathematics, which can deal with correlation between two or more seemingly independent events without knowing the cause of that correlation. If in a chart of 1000 people have the same astrological chart then it can be seen that certain astrological rules hold true in 70%-80% of them. In statistical terms we may say that the occurrence of a specific event in one's life when certain planetary combination exists is "statistically significant". Let's say that you flip a coin 1000 times then the probability of "heads" is always near 50%. Now let's say that you observe the results of flipping a coin during the sun set and sun rise. If you find, after an year long test, that probability of "heads " coming up during sunrise is not actually 50%, as expected, but its 70%, then you can actually construct a rule that if you flip a coin during sun rise, the chances of you getting a "heads" will always be more. Vedic astrology can be explained in a similar way. Certain combinations in one's chart actually result in a prediction, which turns out to be correct in 70-80% of the charts having that combination. We may not explain it yet as to why it happens but the evidence is pretty strong that events can be predicted with very reasonable statistical significance.
